Part 91 · Flight planning & weather

Weight & balance

Per-tail weight-and-balance with a CG-envelope check, computed per station from the aircraft profile you enter and the stations (crew, pax, baggage) on the plan — so a loaded trip is checked against the envelope before it flies. It replaces doing weight-and-balance outside the platform.

Who it's for

A corporate flight department that checks a loaded trip against the CG envelope per tail before it flies.

What it replaces

Doing weight-and-balance outside the platform.

What weight & balance gives you

  • Per-tail weight-and-balance with a CG-envelope check
  • Computed per station from the aircraft profile you enter
  • Checked against the envelope before the trip flies

Per-station W&B, not a lump estimate

Total weight, moment, and CG compute from the individual stations on the plan — crew, pax, baggage, each with its own weight and arm — plus the aircraft's empty weight and fuel added automatically from its profile. When the profile includes CG limits, the plan checks whether the load sits inside the envelope.

Computed from the aircraft profile you enter

The data feeding it is the profile you enter — a certified commercial W&B data feed would be a separate integration, not a built-in claim. The result is a planning aid; the pilot in command stays the final authority for the load.

How an operator uses this

Per-tail weight-and-balance computes from the aircraft profile the department enters — empty weight and arm, fuel arm — plus the stations on the plan (crew, pax, baggage, each with its own weight and arm), so total weight, moment, and CG come from real per-station math, not a lump estimate. When the profile includes CG limits, the plan checks whether the load sits inside the envelope. The data feeding it is the profile you enter — a certified commercial W&B data feed would be a separate integration, not a built-in claim — and the result is a planning aid; the pilot in command stays the final authority for the load.

How it works

Weight & balance, step by step

  1. Enter the aircraft profile for the tail — empty weight, empty and fuel arms, max gross weight, and CG limits.

  2. Add stations for the trip — crew, pax, baggage — each with its own weight and arm; empty weight and fuel are added automatically from the profile.

  3. Total weight, moment, and CG compute per station, live, as stations are added or changed.

  4. When CG limits are set on the profile, a CG-envelope check shows whether the load sits inside them.

Questions

Weight & balance — frequently asked

Does AviationAlley provide certified weight & balance data?

No. Weight-and-balance computes from aircraft profiles and stations you enter; a certified commercial W&B data feed would be a separate integration, not a built-in claim.

Is the CG-envelope check live today?

Yes. Per-tail weight-and-balance with a CG-envelope check is live on /app/flight-planning, computed per station from the aircraft profile and the stations you enter.
